Godβs Covenant Plan
π God's Covenant Plan: From Eden to Christ
The Bible tells the big story of God's rescue plan for humanity and the world. This plan unfolds step by step through six covenants and three major sacred promises God made with people. Each one shows a piece of God's purpose: to defeat sin and death, restore creation, and bring His Kingdom to earth, with Jesus Christ as King.

π One Divine Plan β 6 Covenants and three Major promises.
All through the Bible, we see how God makes promises and keeps fulfilling them. These covenants aren't random they're all part of one connected story. It starts right after the fall in Eden and leads to a new beginning in Christ.
Here's an overview of the six covenants and the promises they hold.
1. π± The Covenant and Major promise in Eden
π Genesis 3:15
Right after Adam and Eve sinned, God made a powerful promise to the serpent:
"I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
This is the very first hint that Jesus would come. He would crush evil's power. Through His death and resurrection, He broke the power of sin and death (Hebrews 2:14β15).
Promise:
- A descendant of the woman will crush the serpent's head
- Sin and death will be defeated
2. π The Covenant with Noah
π Genesis 6:18; 9:8β17
After the flood, God made a covenant with Noah, his family, and all living creatures. He promised never again to destroy the earth with a flood. The rainbow became the sign of this promise.
Promise:
- God will never destroy the earth by flood again
- A sign of God's faithfulness to creation
- A fresh start for humanity
This universal covenant shows that even though humans sin, God hasn't given up on His creation.
3. π The Covenantand and Major promisend with Abraham
π Genesis 12, 13, 15, 17, 22
God chose Abraham to become the father of a special nation. He made three big promises to him:
Promise:
- A great number of descendants
- A lasting inheritance in the land of Canaan
- Blessing for all nations through one descendant
The New Testament reveals that Jesus is that promised descendant (Galatians 3:16). Through faith in Him, people from every nation become children of Abraham and heirs of the promise (Galatians 3:29).
This covenant finds its full fulfillment when Jesus returns.
4. ποΈ The Covenant with Moses (at Sinai)
π Exodus 19β24; Deuteronomy
At Mount Sinai, God made a covenant with the people of Israel. If they followed His laws, they would be His special people. This covenant was temporary and pointed forward to something greater.
Promise:
- Israel would be God's people if they obeyed
- Blessing for obedience, judgment for disobedience (Deut. 28)
The law acted like a "tutor" to lead people to Christ (Galatians 3:24). When Jesus came, He fulfilled and replaced this covenant with something better.
5. π The Covenant and Major promise with David
π 2 Samuel 7; Psalm 89
God promised King David that someone from his family would always be on the throne. This promise went beyond his sons it pointed to an eternal King.
Promise:
- A forever dynasty from David's line
- A King whose kingdom will never end
Jesus is that promised "Son of David" (Luke 1:32β33). He started His Kingdom when He came the first time, and He'll rule fully as King when He returns.
6. βοΈ The New Covenant in Christ
π Jeremiah 31:31β34; Luke 22:20; Hebrews 8
Long before it happened, God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah about a new covenant. At the Last Supper, Jesus declared that it was being fulfilled through His blood.
Promise:
- Forgiveness of sins
- A new heart and spirit
- A personal relationship with God
- God's law written on our hearts
Jesus is the mediator of this new covenant. It's no longer about laws on stone tablets it's about grace and faith. Everyone who believes in Him is part of this covenant and lives in hope of God's Kingdom.
π One Ongoing Story
These six covenants from Eden to Christ aren't isolated events. They're all part of one big story showing how God is working to restore His creation.
Each covenant builds on the last, pointing to:
- Victory over evil
- Blessing for the whole world
- The coming of an eternal King
- The renewal of hearts and the earth
β¨ Our Hope
We live with hope not just wishful thinking, but confident trust.
The promises God made to Adam and Eve, to Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David all find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
"If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."
Galatians 3:29
We look forward to the day Jesus returns, restores the world, and God's Kingdom becomes visible on earth.
Until then, we live by faith and hold on to God's promises.
